Heritage Garden Buildings – Catalogue design & print

Re-branding of a family manufacturing business of outdoor building

This is a fine example of a branding exercise for a small local company with big aspirations. Heritage Garden Buildings is typical of many businesses. They have a great product and service, but realise that a growing business needs to project the right image. Our design is a neat example of a sympathetic typographic solution. With a little thought and creative execution a distinctive logo was developed that portrayed the right image of class and quality.

The branding is carried onto their website which features a classic clean layout with simple imagery that ties in well with their logo.

Central Lancashire City Region promotional literature

New brand identity and promotional brochure design and print.

When is living in the city the same as living in the country? When you live in the Central Lancashire City Region. The brief for Northstar was to create a brand identity and promotional brochure to extol the benefits of Central Lancashire as a city region.

Central Lancashire has all the benefits of both city and country living – with acres of unspoilt countryside within minutes of each of the urban centres. And for committed countryphiles the reverse is true should they wish a night at the Opera or some serious shopping to do.

The brand identity features concentric rings depicting coast, city and countryside. The promotional brochure picks up on these themes and colours in presenting Central Lancashire as a great place to live, work and do business.

Promotional literature for an ant-racism in football organisation

Promotional literature in support of Kick It Out National anti-racism Week of Action.

Kick It Out is an organisation promoting Anti Racism in football at grass roots and professional levels. To coincide with their Week of Action the organisation requires supporting promotional literature including, leaflet, poster and brochure to inform, change perceptions and create awareness of their campaign. The information is targeted to a wide audience and is designed to appeal to both young and old.
Northstar Design has created promotional literature with a strong visual style that is modern and upbeat. The messages of equality, fairness and inclusiveness are presented in a lively manner to appeal to the wide audience but do not lose sight of the serious messages to be communicated.

Equality Human Rights Commission promotional literature

Promotional literature for the launch of the Transformation at Work Agenda initiative.
The focus of this suite of promotional literature was to illustrate to employers the issues regarding changing working practices for future business growth. The client required an original approach that could encapsulate the theme but steer clear of the usual hackneyed photographic solutions of people at work.
Our solution was to present the themes and benefits through the use of illustration. This medium is perfect for presenting conceptual messages. A comic strip theme was developed with characters illustrating different scenarios and solutions. The resulting piece of promotional design is both visually striking, different to the norm but conveys the serious message in a memorable way.

Rossendale Borough Council

Complete re-branding of the main Council identity. Implementation across all communication material, signage and livery.
Rossendale Council required a complete re-branding to reflect the big change in management and direction that was being undertaken. A positive and modern corporate identity was required to enforce the change.
The solution is a move away from the usual coat of arms that adorn many Councils’ brands. Instead, a modern and lively logo ‘Rossendale Alive’ was developed to illustrate this positive attitude.
To maintain consistency across its implementation, a brand manual was designed outlining colours, fonts, layout styles, rules and restrictions. Three years on the identity is flourishing and the strong foundations means the identity remains as consistent now as it did when it was launched.
