Embossed business card printing can add texture and a real touch of class to your cards. Embossing is the traditional method of pressing shapes under force into the surface of the card to give a raised effect on one side and de-bossed sunken effect on the reverse. It’s possible to emboss across the whole surface of the card or just focus on particular details. Whatever your design, embossing elevates a standard business card to a whole new level.

Embossed business card printing explained

Also known as blind embossing, the process requires a 2-part male and female die. These are specially manufactured in metal to your design. Any form or shape can be created for the die, however, we would advise avoiding anything too fine and detailed which would not result in a crisp appearance. The embossing process suites simpler shapes. If cards are to be printed as well as embossed, the printing process is done first. After printing the sheets are then fed into a press where they are pressed on both sides with the male and female (counter) die to create the impression.

ORDERING ADVICE: Although we can emboss any quantity, the set-up costs and additional process is more suited to orders with multiple business card variations rather than a single version and larger quantities.

NOTE: Embossing creates a raised effect on one side and a ‘debossed’ shape on the reverse. Be careful that the shape does not interfere with any important elements on the reverse.
