Empress Mills are a family run business which has created a strong brand in the world of haberdashery. They appeal to an enthusiastic market of sewers, quilters and crafters and use printed catalogues and direct mail as a way of developing interest and sales either directly from the catalogue of  guiding customers  to their website for ordering.
Empress Mills have been able to call upon Northstar’s considerable experience of catalogue design and brand development to help maintain and develop theirs over the past 15 years. We understand how to to maximise the selling power of a catalogue. We balance great design with practicality ensuring that the products are shown to their best but are also very persuasive  in  delivering the product benefits and price
Print runs for their catalogues have steadily crept up over the years with requirements of 40k or 50k units. At this level standard sheet fed litho print becomes economical and web offset starts to become the natural choice. Which is a solution that we can offer to clients. Web offset is used for larger print runs and where page pagination maximises the space on the sheet. For the purposes of their A5 catalogues it is most cost effective to order in batches of 16 pages in order to maximise the way the prices words.
